The Krillion game: daily trivia where the rare answer wins

The Krillion is a free trivia game built around a different question: can you name an answer that other people might overlook? You get seven daily prompts, type one answer to each, and descend through the ocean as your score grows. A familiar answer gets you started; a rare one takes you much deeper.

An independent tribute

This is an independent, free tribute at thekrillion.com. Looking for the original? Visit Krillion.io. The Krillion has its own game implementation and curated questions, and your scores and saves here are separate from the original. Our about The Krillion page describes the relationship.

How to play the daily trivia dive

  1. Read the whole prompt. After a short preview, you have 25 seconds to enter one answer that fits.
  2. Find something less obvious. Accepted answers earn 10 to 100 points. If an answer is not in the answer bank, you can try again while time remains.
  3. Watch your depth grow. Every point is worth ten meters of depth. Seven perfect answers total 700 points and 7,000 meters.
  4. Compare your dive. Finish all seven prompts to see your results and share a report without giving away your answers.

The daily prompts are the same for everyone who plays here. A new daily dive opens at midnight in New York, subject to the available question packs. Read the full guide on how to play Krillion before your first dive.

When does the daily dive update?

The Krillion daily dive changes at 00:00 in New York (Eastern Time). That is 04:00 UTC during US daylight saving time and 05:00 UTC during standard time. In Beijing, the change is at 12:00 or 13:00 respectively. The countdown beside the game’s start button shows how long is left until the next change.

One set of prompts per date

Each date has its own scheduled set of seven prompts, shared by everyone. Daily play does not shuffle a new set every time you refresh. Completed days stay available in the archive with their original questions; unfinished games keep their original question deadlines.

The first daily dive was October 9, 2026, and the set has changed at each New York midnight since. Refresh the page or return to the daily start screen to open the new day; an active round is not replaced while you are answering.

Where new questions come from

Daily release and question-bank expansion are separate. New question packs are prepared and published ahead of time, rather than generated at midnight. The daily schedule requires those packs to be available; the current game does not automatically loop back to the first day when the schedule runs out.

Replay a past daily dive

Each day has one scored dive. Once a day has closed, it moves into the archive, where you can open it again as practice. Practice runs use the original seven prompts and do not change your recorded score or streak. Open the menu and choose Archive to see every past dive and how you did on it. The public archive of past dives lists the prompts and full answer sheet of each closed day.

Scoring: rarity rewards knowledge, not random guesses

An unusual answer only helps if it fits the prompt and is included in the question’s answer bank. The scoring tiers are editorial choices, not live percentages of player responses. The familiar Plankton tier earns 10 points; Rare earns 60; Deep Cut earns 85; and One in a Krillion earns 100.

Learn every Krillion scoring tier and what “One in a Krillion” means, or use our Krillion tips to practice finding a reliable answer before reaching for a rarer one. These guides do not reveal today’s answers.

Frequently asked questions

Is The Krillion the original Krillion game?

No. The Krillion at thekrillion.com is an independent fan-made Krillion tribute. The original Krillion game is at krillion.io. We do not share accounts, daily questions or leaderboards.

Is it free to play?

Yes. The Krillion daily dive and the archive of past dives are free. You can play in a browser without creating an account.

Why was my answer rejected?

It may not match the prompt, or our curated answer bank may not contain that answer or spelling. A rejection costs nothing: you can try another answer before the timer expires.

Can I play more than once a day?

Today’s daily dive is scored once. Past daily dives can be replayed as practice from the archive in the menu, as often as you like.

Does my progress survive a refresh?

Progress and settings are saved in this browser when browser storage is available. An active timer keeps running, so refreshing does not give extra time. See saves and privacy for details.
